Customisation & Appearance

The Duratuf Fortress BS 400 Bus Shelter offers several options to tailor the look and performance of the shelter to your specific site conditions and visual preferences.

• Choose between Zincalume or coloured cladding to balance budget and aesthetics.
• Select from a wide range of wall colours to coordinate with school, business, or community branding.
• Mix and match trim and roof colours to create either a subtle, unified finish or a high-contrast highlight.
• Increase wall height by 200mm (optional) where additional headroom or presence is desired.
• Upgrade for coastal environments to better suit harsher, marine conditions.

Optional Upgrades & Accessories

• Zincalume or Coloured Finish
  Choose cost-effective Zincalume or upgrade to a coloured finish for a smarter look and better visual integration with surrounding buildings or school colours.
• Wall Colour Options
  A wide selection of colours is available, including Karaka, Mist Green, Lichen, Grey Friars, Thunder Grey, Titania, Ebony, Ironsand and Nightfall, allowing you to match existing structures or create a distinctive feature.
• Trim & Roof Colour Options
  Separate trim and roof colour choices in the same palette let you create contrasting or matching colour schemes for a more customised appearance.
• BS 400 Wooden Floor
  Add the optional wooden floor kit to create a clean, stable internal surface, improving comfort underfoot and helping keep users and belongings out of surface water or mud.
• Ground Fastening Kits (Peg Down or Bolt Down)
  Choose a Peg Down Kit for fixing into softer ground or a Bolt Down Kit for securing to concrete, helping to keep the shelter stable and safely anchored in exposed locations.
• Extra Wall Height (200mm)
  Increase the wall height by 200mm for additional headroom, making the shelter more comfortable for taller users or where extra internal volume is preferred.
• Coastal Upgrade
  Select the coastal upgrade for sites near the sea to enhance protection of materials in harsher marine environments.

DIY Build & Installation

The Duratuf Fortress BS 400 Bus Shelter is supplied as a kit designed for straightforward installation by someone with good DIY skills. Precut timber framing components are nailed together, and the steel wall and roof sheets, flashings and other components are then fixed in place.

The optional floor kit includes precut joists and floorboards. A few small notches need to be cut for the studs, and the floor can be fully nailed together with a hammer.

• DIY difficulty rating: Intermediate DIY project; best completed by a competent DIYer in approximately one day.

• Drill bits 3.5mm
• Drill bit 6mm (for clear roof panel only)
• Riveter (free Duratuf riveter supplied in kit)
• Hammer
• Nail punch
• Tape measure
• String line / length of string
• Masonry drill and 10mm masonry bit (for Bolt Down Kit only)
